The first competition of 2025! I did it remotely with some team members in Linköping.

Although I had some luck with lines, the score also shows some crazy arrows too. When it was good, they went right in. But when the adrenaline crashed, there were just too many big errors.
Getting to the competition was beyond stressful. Snow needed to be removed from the car which in itself is OK, but the door handles were frozen shut so it took more than a half an hour just to leave the driveway. And then, there was a very icy drive to the range… All those years in Monaco have really turned me into a wuss.
Technique wise things started ok. I was able to do what I wanted to do but my nerves were shot from the drive. I guess when you are that scared, the adrenaline saves you in the moment but then it crashes and you are beyond exhausted. My arms were fine, but my body simply did not want to shoot. And then in the second half, I started to think about the drive home. Awesome.
I am very happy with my bow and all the tinkering I was doing in Q4. I really think that it is paying off. Knowing that your equipment is ok makes things so much better.
Mentally – and as a mental coach… I am quite surprised I did as well as I did.
I flew off the road in Iceland a few years back so when the weather conditions make me relive that experience, it is a wonder how I even got to the competition. Understandably, your grit can only take so much before you crack. I hate ‘just finishing’ a competition to get it done but that is what happened this time. Sorry to those waiting for me to get that National Record… there will be another competition soon and the snow will go away at some point.
