While putting together my bow, I could not find my pressure button. This was not a good way to start the competition. Thankfully, a teammate offered hers and of course, once the competition was completed, I found it.

I admit that the equipment side of archery is my least favourite thing compared to technique and mental. Having to reset someone else’s pressure button during two warm up rounds is nuts! I am not one of those archers that has doubles of everything and as I take great care in my stuff, so having to do a reset like this is extremely rare.

After 6 arrows, I was at least in the red zone. The next issue was how hard the plunger was compared to mine. Trying to adjust the site using “my” normal turns, did not have the same effect. The replacement plunger was just too hard… or maybe mine is just too soft.
The first 30 arrows were a bit spastic. Second series was a bit better but still not very happy with overall score.
As I was so concentrated on the equipment, my technique simply was not normal. I focused on each shot as much as possible while trying to evaluate arrow flight. Maybe there is a lesson here about having a second plunger… so maybe I will get another one…
Finished with a 537 which was good enough to win. And stay on top of the National Rankings in Sweden.
After the competition was over, I took my bag and dumped out everything on the floor. I spent some time going through every spot possible until I finally found my plunger. It had gone through a hole in a seem of a pocket in a case… it really was hiding.
I have been able to train twice already since the comp just to reassure myself that the sore was not reflective of my performance at this time of the season. There is another comp coming in two weekends at 25 meters so I am really focused on that. I have never done that distance before so whatever happens it will be a PB. It has actually only been a few training sessions which I have shot 25m so I am still in the fun stage. Let’s hope all my equipment is exactly where it is supposed to be on game day.
